I bought art yesterday! And although it is just a small piece, I cannot wait to frame it and hang it on my wall! All thanks to street artist/designer/art maker Steve Pitocco.
Last evening I visited the openings party of his exhibition at concept store Whatsize in Paris. The whole store was transformed into a urban gallery with beautiful, strong, coloured paintings. I was truly impressed and intrigued by his work.
Steve Pitocco comes from Paris but lives in New York. His logo is one to remember: a heart with wings, ‘Le Koeurélé’. Once you’ve seen it, you won’t forget it. Steve is not a new kid in town. He is well known for his urban-culture-graffiti-street art style. If you check his website, you will see that he did great collabs with Adidas, Reebok, Lacoste, Swarovski, New Era and G-shock.
A few principles of Steve are: ‘ Interprétez vous-même sans manipulation’ (Interpret yourself without manipulation). And ‘Nul besoin d’utiliser des termes bien définis pour une oeuvre infinie, il ne faut pas expliquer une création il faut la ressentir,…’ (There is no need to use well defined words for a work which has no borders, do not explain a creation, it must be felt,…).
Therefore I will end by saying: ‘Forget my opinion, my photos, and visit the exhibition and feel…’
